Championship 2010 Report
All races were sailed with southwesterly wind, varying from force 3 to 5.
Race One
It paid to stay on the starboard tack after the start. Curraglas was first to the mark and built up a huge lead. A chasing pack of several boats included Therapi, Twocan, Euphanzel, Viking and Whiterock. Eventually Therapi and Whiterock took minor honours. The race was noteworthy for a fine helming performance by Zita Grace who worked her way up into sixth place.
Race Two
This was a more keenly contested affair. Whiterock, Jo Slim and Curraglas all held the lead. Curraglas passed Jo Slim on the run and won the race.
Race Three
Possibly the best race of the Championship. Whiterock took an early lead in heavy conditions. Whiterock and Jo Slim pulled away from Curraglas and Therapi under spinnaker on the first run. Curraglas quick spinnaker work enabled Jerome O'C to overtake Jo Slim on the next run. All three leading boats started the final beat overcanvassed. Curraglas realised that Jo Slim was eating up to their windward and reefed. Once completed, this enabled them to shake off Jo Slim. Towards the end of the race, Curraglas nipped ahead of Whiterock which overstood the finishing line.
Race Four
Race 4 was Curraglas's victory parade. Whiterock, Jo Slim and Gusto chased in vain.
